Why can macrame be a super powerful way to calm down? Not because it’s magic ✨, but because it gives your brain and body a few very specific things they’re craving:

- A single point of focus. Watching the cords and counting repeats pulls your attention out of spiraling thoughts and into the present moment.

- A steady rhythm. Repetitive hand movements can feel regulating, like a metronome for your body when everything else feels chaotic.

- A real “I did something” win. Stress steals your sense of control. Making visible progress, even a few flowers at a time, gives your brain a little boost of safety and competence.

New tutorial drop!!! 🌼 Say hello to the Marigold shoulder bag 💛

A little “flower power” moment in mustard + off-white, made with a super meditative repeating pattern (aka: put on a podcast and disappear into knot-land 😅).

What you need to know:
• Intermediate level
• Around 12 hours total (about 9 hours of knotting)
• You’ll knot a flat rectangle first, then fold + sew it into the bag (the flat-to-3D transformation is SO satisfying)

This one was actually named by our community (Janet, thank you! 🫶) and it feels very “we made this together”.

Creativity calms the mind. Creativity grounds.

I’ve realized that whether it’s getting my hands dirty in clay, ripping newspapers for a collage or feeling the beat of a weaving loom they all share one thing: they demand your presence.

When I’m cutting fabric for a summer dress or pulling macrame cord into a new design, the “noise” of the world finally goes quiet. My mind focuses entirely on the “problem” in front of me, aka the next knot, the next cut, the next layer. You forget the rest and, for a moment, you’re just present.

Macrame has become my grounding rock and, honestly, a life-saving force. It’s how I find my way back to center when things feel heavy. To anyone feeling overwhelmed: find something to create. It might just save you, too. 🤍

And on a side note, some of you may have noticed the name change (no more @curiouscraftstudio), as I’m slowly moving things under one umbrella. I’ll share more about the “why” behind all of this later. ✨🥰

It’s never too late to make a 2025 recap, right? 😅

2025 was a mix of beautiful, heavy, quiet, and creative moments. For me, and I know for many of you too. It wasn’t a light year, but it was a super real one. And somehow, we’re still here. Still making things with our hands. Still showing up in the ways we can. 🤍

On a personal level, last year asked a lot of me. There were stretches where it genuinely felt like pure survival mode. And in the middle of that, macrame became a steady anchor for me. Sitting down to knot, plan, film, and create for you and for myself, it gave my days structure and meaning when other parts of life felt super shaky. Creating alongside you all kept me going more than once, and got me back on my feet more than once.

Looking back at everything we made together in 2025 makes me feel proud and a little emotional. So many textures, ideas, experiments, and small wins. Some pieces surprised me, some grew on me, and some I still love every time I see them.

It’s FINISHED! 🤩 This macrame tutorial was a struggle to get finished amidst moving flats, getting sick, and having unfinished Ikea furniture waiting to be assembled! 😅 (who else here loves putting together Ikea furniture? 🙌🏻)
