How do I get started with macrame?
If you’re completely new to macrame, I recommend you start by reading this blog post first: Macrame for beginners & 5 basic macrame knots. It will cover the basics you should know before you start your macrame adventure.

But now, let’s get started on that Christmas spirit!
Macrame Christmas star tutorials
I don’t know about you, but for me this winter holiday season would not be anything without beautiful lights and candles, little stars, trees, and Xmas angels sprinkled around my home. Let’s begin with Christmas stars though, since that’s the only Christmas macrame tutorial I have personally had the time to create! 😅 (More will come, I promise!)
This DIY macrame Christmas star is great for table decor, made with or without the ring (you can use cord as the ring if you’d like to use this one as a coaster for example!), or you can attach a little cord to it and hang it on your Christmas tree. I’ve knotted a couple of these and I placed them on the table with a sturdy candle holder in the middle. They’re such a joy!
Here’s another sparkly Christmas star macrame tutorial by Nghi from Miss Knottie Macrame. I’m planning on making a couple of these for our Christmas tree! Or as coasters? I’m not sure yet!
Macrame Christmas tree tutorials
Ourania from My Total Handmade has made these two absolutely stunning macrame tree tutorials. I love how minimal and architectonic they are.
Next up we have a macrame Christmas tree tutorial from Anna from Uzliky, in a bigger, wall hanging size.
Have you already made some Christmas decorations in macrame this year? Come show off your work or ask for advice in our Macrame Makers Club FB group!
Macrame Angel patterns
Chasta from Soulful Notions shows you how to make macrame angels in style. These would be adorable in white string with some golden hues!
If Chasta’s tutorial looks a bit too complicated for you, Lori Lori has an even more simple and quick macrame angel tutorial for you. This can really be completed in less than 30 minutes. Maybe you’ll even make a few in a half hour!
Not feeling like making a full angel, but you love the idea of angel wings? Try out Ourania’s, from My Total Handmade, tutorial for angel wings.
Macrame Christmas tree ornaments
Last but not least, let’s have a look at what you could do quickly to decorate your Christmas tree with some macrame spirit! First up, Megan Bell shows you how to make these three boho macrame ornaments. Making macrame doesn’t get easier than this!
A bit more complicated, but still very beginner friendly tutorials for your Christmas tree by Anastasia from Macrame Princess:
And that’s a wrap! I wish all of you the merriest holiday season, and I hope it’s full of macrame fun!
