My macrame fern leaf wall hanging 🌿 This wall decor is made with about 190 meters of of 3mm cotton cord and 11 meters of 1mm thick metal wire. I only used the clove hitch knot and the thing that makes this wall hanging rather unique, is the dowel-free hanging method. 🌿 Did you see the video where I nailed the leaf to the wall??

In nature, a fractal is a pattern where similar shapes repeat on a smaller and smaller scale. Fern leaves are a perfect example: each large leaf is made up of smaller leaves, each echoing the same shape. While a perfect fractal can be difficult to replicate with macrame 😝, this design tries to capture the essence of that repeating beauty. We hang the wall hanging with nails, not a dowel, and hold the organic shape with metal wire. Want to give it a try? How did you express your creativity this past year? Did you learn something new, stumble a little, or create something you’re incredibly proud of?

Every year, I like to pause and reflect—on the moments that shaped me, the lessons learned, and the things I’m ready to let go of, making space for what’s to come. This year, I haven’t carved out much time for this yet (a busy family Christmas time is just behind us!), but even a quick scroll through my camera roll brought a smile to my face. It’s filled with so many beautiful memories. 🌟

Luna macrame dreamcatcher tutorial is now live in da club! 💛

Dreamcatchers come from Native American culture, especially the Ojibwa (or Chippewa) people. They were traditionally handmade using natural materials like willow hoops, and decorated with feathers and beads. People would hang them above children’s cradles or beds as a way to protect the sleeper. The web in the center is believed to catch bad dreams, allowing only good dreams and energy to pass through to the fringe or feathers all the way down to the sleeper, while the bad ones get caught in the web.

In this tutorial I’ll walk you through how to make this delicate macrame dreamcatcher I named Luna. This project is super beginner friendly and rather quick to make. You can personalise it as much as you want by using different colored cord and beads and decide to make the fringe with feathers or different materials that have meaning for you.

A few specs about this design:
Difficulty level: Easy
Time needed: approximately 1-2 hours
Size of finished product: 27 x 75cm or 11 x 30 inches
Cord needs: You need about 44 meters or 48 yards of 3mm cord
