A few words about me

<<< That’s me, Italy-living, sun-chasing, cat-cuddling creative from Finland in my wedding dress AND my handmade bridal macrame earrings.

I grew up in the middle of the Finnish countryside dreaming of working in fashion and living in a place where the sun shines on most days. This dream lead me to study fashion design in Amsterdam and working as a wedding dress designer in Tel Aviv. And by this point I can hear you thinking “Great, she made it happen!”, right?

But nothing is ever that easy, is it? After a few years in fashion, the superficial and exploitative nature of the industry dampened my enthusiasm. Don’t get me wrong – I still loved creating with my hands! However, I changed industry, and for many years I worked in tourism in Rome, Italy. After all, culture and travel were always close to my heart and creativity is useful in all different careers.

Fast forward to 2020. Like many others, I had to reinvent my career in the chaos of the worldwide pandemic. Despite the fears of the health crisis and the unknown economic future, having time for me again was an opportunity of a lifetime. I started a true journey of rediscovery of my passion for handmade crafts.

What started as an exploration quickly turned into something I had been talking about for years: building my own dream instead of someone else’s. Building the life I want to lead, on my own terms. And here we are, some odd years later, I have just launched my dream project Macrame Makers Club through which I am cultivating not only my own creativity and artistic spark but also that of others. Through the club I can (and you can too!) connect the collective knowledge & experience of a community of macrame makers who are there to support each other. And I already know that I have made some lifelong friends along the way, and we’re just getting started.
